Is the Budapest Prosecco Cruise Worth It?

Is the Budapest prosecco cruise worth it? What October 2026 reviews praise and complain about, the price against one-glass and dinner cruises, and who should skip it.

Updated October 2026

Yes, if you want a sociable hour on the Danube and will drink more than one glass: Duna-Weser’s Unlimited Prosecco, Beer, Aperol & Limoncello Spritz Cruise is rated 4.8 from 50,831 reviews on GetYourGuide, and its reviews from late October 2026 average 4.8 as well. It is from US$28 a person (checked October 2026). It is not worth it if you want fine wine, a live guide or a quiet boat: the reviews that mark it down say exactly that. The calendar is below.

What the reviews praise

We read 350 of the most recent GetYourGuide reviews of the Duna-Weser cruise, from October 2026. Of those, 298 give five stars and 8 give one or two. The same points come up again and again:

  • The drinks keep coming. Reviewers write that they hardly ever queued for a refill, and several say staff came round topping up glasses on deck.
  • The view after dark. Evening reviewers describe Parliament, the Castle and the bridges lit up.
  • The value. “Great value for money” recurs, in one wording or another.
  • The commentary. Short recorded passages between the music, about the buildings you pass, which most reviewers liked.

What they complain about

The low marks are about expectations more than failures:

  • The wine. Several reviewers call the sparkling wine average, and one found the spritzers mostly sparkling wine. It is sold as Hungarian sparkling wine, not as a premium prosecco.
  • The music. Some wanted club music, others found it too loud to hear the commentary. It is background music on a sightseeing boat.
  • The top deck. It gets crowded around the bar and at the rail for photos. One reviewer queued 40 minutes early and still found a line; another, arriving 30 minutes before, was among the last to get a rooftop seat.
  • The cold. From late October the open deck is chilly; dress for it.
  • Late sailings. One reviewer on a 23:00 sailing found most of the riverside lights going off as the boat set out.

The other prosecco boats, by their reviews

  • The Floating Lotus rooftop cruise averages 4.4 in its reviews from August to October 2026, below its overall 4.6. The complaints are about space: in September 2026 reviewers wrote of a packed rooftop where many could not sit. Between 10 September and 4 October 2026 ten reviewers had the pier changed, several of them on the day; three were told it was for low water, and at least four were sent across the river to the Buda bank. The VIP upgrade, with its own bar and seats at the front, is the part reviewers praise most.
  • Sip & Sail averages 4.5 in its reviews from the year to October 2026. Reviewers like the prosecco cocktails and the staff topping up; the complaints are bar queues, plastic cups and, in August 2026, a sailing cancelled for low water.

Bar chart of from-prices per person for Budapest cruises: one-glass cruises US$13 and US$14, unlimited prosecco cruises US$28 to US$30, dinner cruises US$102 and US$111

So the unlimited hour costs about twice a one-glass cruise and about a quarter of a dinner cruise. The question is simply whether you would want more than one drink on the water. If yes, the unlimited boats are the better buy; if not, a one-glass cruise covers the same downtown stretch.

Prosecco cruise or dinner cruise?

A dinner cruise is a different evening: two to two and a half hours at a table, a buffet or a set menu, and live music. Duna-Weser’s own dinner boat from Akadémia 3 pours cocktails, spirits, prosecco, wine and beer at the table, which the hour-long prosecco cruise does not. Silverline’s dinner cruise includes one welcome glass and sells the rest. Choose the dinner cruise if the meal is the point of the evening; choose the prosecco cruise if you plan to eat in town afterwards.

Who should skip it

  • Anyone who wants a guide in person. The commentary is recorded; none of the prosecco boats has a live guide.
  • Wine lovers. The pour is good-value sparkling wine and spritz, not a tasting.
  • Anyone who wants to dance. That is the Danube Beat boat party, a separate late-night boat.
